inside malate church

Nuestra Senora de los Remedios
Mabini Street, Malate, Manila

There are tons of Manila’s Catholic church images here but I don’t remember posting posting anything that shows an interior yet. This is definately one of the nicer looking ones. It’s always either boring or I can’t adjust to the light. Indoors isn’t one of my strengths.

Oh, I remember posting photos of items inside a church- an angel and a stained glass lecture. But still, none yet that gives the view like this.

Mocha Blends
Harbour Square, Malate, Manila

Harbour Square is a wonderful place to eat out with friends and family- any time of the day- sunsets to night time are the best, and any day of the year with a sole exception- when the tide is high. You won’t want  Manila Bay water splashing over you or your food). We’ve seen Singkit and Dencio’s, now it’s Mocha Blends’ turn and there are a lot more.

Mocha Blends isn’t really something unfamiliar to everyone. The very name gives whatever secret it has. The photo screams Starbucks, Figaro, Gloria Jeans, Seattle’s Best, Bo’s, UCC and everything.  But this one has got to be Oz’s pride.

a small park between Philippine Navy Headquarters and Cultural Center of the Philippines
Pedro Bukaneg Street corner Roxas Boulevard, Malate, Manila

Metro Manila isn’t as bike friendly as one would expect from a city in the Far East. But still, Manila has a lot of bicycle fans. Somewhere around this area, there are bikes for rent, but the limited space where one can freely bike is a major turn-off. I think the guy in the photograph is a commuter though.

I like this photo a lot because it reminds me of my plans, which is to cycle my way up to Claveria or Santa Ana in Cagayan or to Pagudpod in Ilocos Norte, whatever is the northernmost tip of this island. To cut the long story short, there’s this anime character who I can really identify with and he did a similar journey from Tokyo to the northernmost tip of Japan’s northernmost main island, Hokkaidō.

The Philippines is no Japan when it comes to public works and stuff which may prevent me from doing this but I’ve searched the net and learned that a guy from Eastern Visayas had completed such journey already. So it is possible. I just don’t have the money to buy even a decent second hand bike. Yet. So I’ll just continue testing my endurance in the gym’s cycle machine.

another orange afternoon

Manila Bay sunset and people
(Manila Bay and) Baywalk, Roxas Boulevard, Malate, Manila

Who doesn’t love sunsets aside form people not so happy about what’s coming up the next day? Watch that quick golden moment by Manila Bay and you may love it even more. This place has one of the best views, guaranteed on a clear day. It’s so good it’s considered an attraction of sorts in itself already.

I was trying to fit the guy’s head into the sun to create a halo of sorts. It can’t happen without getting the background line and the people silhouettes screwed up. Since it’s street and all, I’ve to capture before the Jesus Christ moves. I was thinking it can be the last supper but there are 15 people in the group. JC, the 12, and the 2 Marys. Nevermind.

I have been pretty busy lately and only had spare time to do the daily post-upload, write entry, schedule post. I will be back to attend to everything else.
